Classic South West climbs

Have you read the book Classic Rock by Ken Wilson or Pat Litttlejohn's guide to the Southwest? These books have inspired many climbers to visit the Southwest because of the wide variety of climbing opportunities on the many sea cliff crags and granite tors on Dartmoor.

For example

At the Dewerstone, Central Groove (HS) and Climbers Club (VS). At Bosigran, Commando Ridge (VD), Doorpost (HS), Little Brown Jug (VS), Zig Zag (VS) and Anvil Chorus HVS, Right Angle (HS) at St Gurnards Head and Terriers Tooth at Chair Ladder.

On the Culm Coast Wreckers Slab (VS) or at Daddyhole in Torbay try Gates of Eden (HS) and  visit the surf beaches of North Devon and try Kinky Boots (VS) and Shangri La (S) at Baggy Point.

Prices for instruction start from £110 per day and include all the equipment needed such as helmets, harnesses etc. Remember these costs can be shared between two people.

If you are in the South West on holiday with your family, escape for the day and book a climbing instructor and have some fun!

Guide books for the South West Include Avon/Cheddar, North Devon and Cornwall, Bosigran and Chair Ladder, South Devon and Dartmoor, Wye Valley, Swanage and Portland. Have a look at what you could do! The opportunities are endless!
